Massively oversized rigid indigo denim jeans are folded and stitched in various places to create a sculptural dimensional garment. Duct-tape-like applique is then heat-pressed over the folds to create a DIY look. The shaping follows no anatomical or traditional garment logics and sits off the body in unrecognizable ways. While seemingly arbitrary and superimposed, as the jeans are continuously worn and as the rigid denim softens and fades, the wearer's body has the potential to become apparent, affecting the jeans' exterior form and finish. Whereas a traditional pair of denim fades in well-documented and expected ways, this new form creates new ways denim can relate to and be shaped by a human body.
Red-cast high-sheen rigid denim is ~13oz. Custom gold-tone rivets and shank button. Heat-press tape sealed fly, front closure, and back pockets.
