The iconic Ma-1 from Buzz Rickson's, a Japanese brand founded in 1994 whose focus is stitch-by-stitch reproductions of vintage military garments. Everything from the fabric (heavy nylon twill that is woven on vintage looms) to the zipper tape (100% Cotton Herringbone Twill) is faithfully recreated following the USAF specifications of the Modified B15-D ('First pattern' Ma-1) flight jackets. A marked difference between these earlier Ma-1's is the thick, dense, wool/cotton blend insulation used which gives the jacket a significant amount of heft and structure. Compared to later polyester insulated bombers, the shoulder shape on these is more pronounced. This particular Buzz Rickson's Ma-1 was produced in the 90s when the brand was still only serving the Japanese market, evidenced by the 'M' prefix code number on the tag--as a result of its age, it has developed a beautiful sun-faded patina.
