AW99 showcased many groundbreaking visuals, the astronaut and motorcycle motifs being the most prominent and influential even today. Perhaps one of the more underrated icons from this season is the long gown characterized by its utilitarian silhouette and armored shoulder padding atop its slip-style ribbon straps. The unassuming silhouette is subverted by the use of sequins and the nearly hidden high slit featuring two leg bondage straps.
