According to Miyagi Hidetaka, his namesake brand operates on a seasonless basis. He opts instead to design pieces on a product by product basis, using his own stylistic preferences as inspiration. Since launching his flagship bandana flannel shirt, he has gone on to produce accompanying north face puffers, puffer vests, and the 'D' pants shown here. A majority of Hidetaka's work involves utilizing vintage bandanas and grafting them onto existing clothing items, introducing a high quality hand-crafted touch to archetypical menswear shapes. The bandanas are individually placed and sewn together (with edges left raw) to match the pattern pieces of the base garment. Then, these replicated pieces are sewn on, attached at waistband and legs for a 2-ply finish. The patchworked patterns are mirrored in shape but not color, creating contrasting layers of symmetry and asymmetry. Care is taken to preserve the functional details of the pants like the belt loops, slash pockets, and back welt pockets. The raw finishes and fineness of the cotton calico bandanas have a delicate quality but the pants themselves retain all the rugged structure of the classic Dickies 874 work pant that lie underneath.
