AW16 Fucked With The Past / Future Shirt

Size 3 Fits M-L

Jun Takahashi's AW16 "Instant Calm" saw a return to many themes and tropes we have seen before in some of the most celebrated past collections, just as SS16 "The Greatest" did. It seems this year was largely about "fucking with the past". This shirt is peculiar, considering it seems quite an antithetical approach to what the mantra that is printed in gold across the left breast would ask of us. To elaborate, the button-up has a shape and style that is reminiscent of SS10 "Less but Better" and directly references lots of garments from SS09 "Neoboy" and SS12 "Open Strings" which featured this exact Patti Smith mantra or variations of it prevalently. Perhaps there is a method to this madness that I am unable to see.

Regardless, this shirt is aesthetically stunning - a lovely deep black colour and a vibrant gold print which undoubtedly was chosen to invoke feelings of classicism, opulence and nostalgia. There are also the reflective, translucent buttons found on several Undercover button-ups which are a nice signature touch. It has been worn maybe less than twice, and is still at the time of writing this description, available in a few stores at a much higher price.
