Spring/Summer 2003 is perhaps one of the most widely celebrated Undercover collections, referencing motifs from traditional dress across the world, original punk stylings as envisioned by Vivienne Westwood and as en extension of this decay and repair. Whilst the Paris runway show only displayed womenswear, these themes were as clearly expressed in the menswear.
This iteration of the kilted trouser is produced in a lightweight papery cotton, making it ideal for summer wear; it is also a subversive and unexpected interpretation of the kilt motif, which tend to only be seen in wools.
