AW16 Wool Striped Strap Shirt

Size M Fits Fits S-L

Grey/Beige
Drawing on the strap motif that runs throughout many of Craig Green's collections, this piece utilizes the detailing on a striped shirt base. The shirt itself is cut boxy in the body in a cotton-viscose-wool blend fabric that has a great amount of visual detail--it's finished with the usual metal press stud closure that Craig Green uses tucked under a hidden placket. Personally I think the use of these horizontal straps is pretty ingenious--they run perpendicular to the grain of the stripes but as they're executed in the same fabric, don't create such a jarring contrast. Additionally, when the strap is cinched and ruches the excess fabric of the body, it distorts the verticality of the stripes while the strap itself still represents the original grain and spacing. The comparison between the original and the affected becomes a small intricacy within the garment that creates a welcome sense of disorder, a perfect illustration of the way Craig Green creates so much from what is quite little.
