Perhaps Helmut Lang's most well known garment, in one of the rarest iterations. The SS99 bulletproof is arguably the most difficult to find out of the 4 versions (Kevlar, Goose Down, Cotton and Nylon). They are by far the most wearable and most comfortable while still offering some of the warmth the goose down version offers, but also remaining perfectly wearable in the summer. The shape is much less aggressive than the FW97 nylon version which featured a deeper curved hem (Kanye infamously ripped from for his first Yeezy show), this version follows the shape of the FW98 iterations which I think is more widely appreciated and understood.
Lang demonstrates his uncanny ability to re-contextualize garments never even conceived in the world of high fashion with his version of the bulletproof vest; an undeniably iconic and beautiful display of Lang's creativity and design proficiency.
