Asymmetrically cut long coat from Luke and Lucie Meier's Jil Sander. From the standout Spring/Summer 2019 that has become a defining collection in this new, minimalist-yet-organic menswear. The Springfield GD coat hybridizes the military and monastic, taking the asymmetrical oversize shape of a monk's robe and rendering it in a utilitarian washed polyamide/polyurethane blend fabric punctuated with 'quiltstitch'-like details from the attachment of folded and stitched webbing. The fabric has a buzzy ballistic nylon hand and a heftiness and structure thanks to the additional webbing on the interior. The layers at the neck juxtapose the gentle curves of a shooting jacket/baseball shirt and the sharp, rectilinear, minimalist angles that Jil Sander design is known for. An array of snaps are placed decoratively at the hem, an injection that's industrial in finish yet crafty in its execution and atmosphere.
