These everyday denim jeans from Penultimate feature striking contrast Liang Bu panels throughout, a heritage Chinese textile made by Miao women in Guizhou. The fabric is hand woven, hand dyed, then coated in an egg-white mixture to achieve its slight sheen and crinkly paper-like texture (for a western industrial equivalent, think tyvek). It's deceptively light and has a beautiful visual depth to it, with the diamond-shaped weave sometimes peeking out at you upon closer inspection. The tonality matches the midblue denim perfectly. At the knees silk teardrop panels cut from antique beijing opera costumes add a pop of brightness and color.
Finished with gold beaded button and YKK zipper, contrast-stitched belt loops, and sweeping curvaceous articulated hem. All these considered and abstracted elements demonstrate Xiang's ability to incorporate artful inflections in every element of garment construction and design.
Made in China at Xiang's Studio 10/10 Condition, new with tags.
