These Vexed Generation technical cycling jeans demonstrate how the 00s UK streetwear label is a hallmark of functional, utilitarian, and also socially-driven design. A large part of their ethos is that people have a right to inhabit public space and have a right to use it freely for discourse, exchange, and debate. Amidst a storm of institutional forces (i.e. pollution, surveillance, and overpolicing) that were shrinking this space and access to it, Vexed Generation's output considered garments moreso as social and physical interfaces, made to augment the way people navigate liminal public spaces. Clothes focused on protecting against the at-times harsh urban environment and also focused on eliminating any restrictions that the clothes themselves would impose.
These riding jeans feature a steel grey twill face fabric with a slight sheen and a polyurethane membrane coated interior with taped seam construction to provide water resistance, letting the pants function in a range of inclement conditions. A contoured waistband with extra high back provides rear coverage while in a cycling stance. Curved panel leg construction enhances bent-leg mobility and shifts seam bulk away from high movement areas like the knees (which, along with the seat, are reinforced for resistance to wear and abrasion). A canted hem, longer in front for added coverage, features an interior zipper that tightens the hem, keeping excess fabric out of the bike chain and creating a sculptural backwards-facing 'fin' in the process.
Made in China 8/10 Condition, with no rips, stains, or tears. Some slight wear at wearer's right back hem and some tape peeling at the crotch.
Fit Notes: Tagged a size S but fits up to a size 32W comfortably. Will fit around a 32" inseam with no break. Straight/contoured leg with plenty of room in the seat and legs.
